All the scufflings and arguments came to an end, after 55 year old Ravi Shashtri has been appointed as the head coach of Team India. Shashtri took command over Anil Kumble, after he resigned from the champions trophy 2017, due to his conflict with Indian skipper Virat Kohli.
Former director of the team has always been the front runner since the day he applied for the position as he is in good relationship with Virat Kohli. His name has been approved by the Cricket Advisory Committee, consisting of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman.
Discussing about Shastri’s achievemetns, we can notice:
- He was an all rounder spurting his team a long mile under his captaincy.
- He scored 3830 runs in 80 test matches for India at an average of 35.79.
- In ODI’s he palyed 150 matches for India and scored 3108 runs.
- He took 129 wickets at an average of 36.04.
Other contenders that were in the league for the coach’s position were Virendra Sehwag, Lalchand Rajput, Tom Moody and Richard Pybus.
