Devbhoomi-Uttarakhand

It is believed that Uttarakhand is the abode of thirty-three million gods and goddesses, and due to many Hindu religious places, Uttarakhand is called Devbhoomi i.e. the land of gods. In Purana Uttarakhand was the ancient word for the central Indian Himalayas. Its peaks and valleys have been considered as heaven.

Why Uttarakhand is called Devbhoomi ?

  • Some saints believe that direct attainment of heaven by praising God is also done through this land.
  • The holy rivers of India The Ganga , Yamuna and Saraswati also originate from Devbhoomi Uttarakhand
  • It is believed that the Pandavas also stayed in Uttarakhand in their exile.
  • Pandavas and many other kings, choose the land of Uttarakhand for penance.
  • This earth is considered auspicious for meditating.
  • In-laws home of Lord Shiva is Daksh Prajapati’s city is also in Uttarakhand.
