Devbhoomi

Uttarakhand is known as Devbhoomi because it is the abode of thirty-three million gods and goddesses, and due to many Hindu religious places.
Devbhoomi means “Land of Gods” Because in Purana’s, Uttarakhand was the ancient word for the central Indian Himalayas and its peaks and valleys have been considered as heaven.

The Himalayas have been divided into five geographical regions in the Skanda Purana.

खण्डाः पंच हिमालयस्य कथिताः नैपालकूमाँचंलौ।
केदारोऽथ जालन्धरोऽथ रूचिर काश्मीर संज्ञोऽन्तिमः॥

It means Nepal, Kurmanchal (Kumaon), Kedarkhand (Garhwal), Jalandhar (Himachal Pradesh), Surmay (Kashmir) in the Himalayan region. According to Mythological texts, the Kurmanchal region used to be famous by the name Manaskhand and the names Kurmanchal and Kumaon of Manas Khand became popular from the reign of Chand kings.

Uttarakhand is a state located in the north of India, which was earlier known as Uttaranchal, and it came into existence on 9 November 2000 as the 27th state of India.
The capital of Uttarakhand is Dehradun. The shape of the map of Uttarakhand looks like a Turtle.

Uttarakhand is the 19th largest state of India.

Uttarakhand the state of India is located in the north-western part of the country. Tibet Autonomous Region of China to its northeast Himachal Pradesh in the North-West, Nepal in the South-East,and is surrounded by Uttar Pradesh in the South-West.

The Geographical Area of ​​Uttarakhand is 53,483 km2

Total 13 states comes in Uttarakhand, out of which 6 are in Kumaon division and 7 are in Garhwal division.
